Montreal Woman Dies After Balcony Incident

Montreal police report that a 31-year-old woman, who was allegedly pushed from a balcony on New Year’s Day, has died from her injuries.

The incident occurred during an altercation when the woman was pushed from a three-storey balcony.

Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant stated that officers were called to an apartment building on Ste-Catherine Street near Pie-IX Boulevard at around 8:15 a.m. on Thursday.

Police found the woman unconscious on the ground. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault. He appeared in court by phone on Friday morning.

Police indicate that the woman’s death is the first homicide of 2026 in Montreal.
