A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on January 1. He was arraigned on Friday for aggravated assault.

The incident took place around 8:15 a.m. in the Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

A witness informed police that an altercation escalated on a third-floor balcony between the woman and the suspect before she fell.

The victim was discovered on the ground below the Ste-Catherine Street apartment. Police announced on Monday that she had died in the hospital.
