Fire Destroys Industrial Building in St. Boniface

A vacant industrial building in St. Boniface will be demolished after a fire early Thursday morning.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) reported that the building on Archibald Street suffered severe smoke, fire, and water damage.

“Due to structural concerns and to aid in the location of hotspots, WFPS is arranging an emergency demolition of the building,” stated WFPS in a news release.

There were no injuries reported. The fire is currently under investigation.

Firefighters were called by Winnipeg police officers shortly after 3:30 a.m. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

Archibald Street was closed between Nairn Avenue and Mission Street.

“When the road reopens, residents should use caution,” WFPS warned. “Water from firefighting efforts will freeze and create slippery conditions. City crews will monitor the area and apply sand and de-icing agents to roads and sidewalks as needed to improve traction.”

WFPS noted that there have been three previous fires on the Archibald Street property in November 2023, May 2025, and September 2025.
