Jeffrey Craig Salkeld Charged with Sexual Assault

SaskExpress musical director and Regina musician Jeffrey Craig Salkeld is charged with sexual assault. This follows a police investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred last summer.

Details of the Charges

Salkeld, 64, was arrested and charged last month with sexual interference and sexual assault of a person under the age of 16. Regina police stated that the charges relate to an incident where a young person was allegedly touched inappropriately in July 2025.

SaskExpress Response

Salkeld’s arrest led SaskExpress to cancel the remaining December performances of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The organization issued a statement on its website, acknowledging “off-duty allegations involving an employee of our organization that caused us significant concern.”

Workplace Actions

Due to this concern, the board of directors decided to remove Salkeld from the workplace “pending that investigation.” His name was also taken off the group’s website.

Organization Background

Representatives from SaskExpress did not respond to CBC’s requests for an interview. However, Carol Gay Bell, the organization’s now-retired founder, confirmed that Salkeld was an employee. Bell founded SaskExpress as a touring performance group in 1980.

Current Activities of SaskExpress

SaskExpress has grown to include musical theatre schools in Regina and Saskatoon. These schools teach performers aged three to 19 in singing, acting, and dancing, according to information on the SaskExpress website.

Salkeld’s Performance History

Salkeld has also appeared in productions at Regina’s Globe Theatre. According to the theatre’s Facebook page, he has performed for Queen Elizabeth, King Charles, and several other members of the royal family.

Case Status

Salkeld is not in custody. His case was adjourned on Monday and will return to Regina provincial court on Feb. 2.
