Police Respond to Death After Altercation at Royal University Hospital
Saskatoon police arrived at the 100 block of Hospital Drive after a person was reported dead following an altercation with hospital security on January 9, shortly after 7 a.m.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) stated that protective service officers were called to a patient’s room due to safety concerns involving an admitted patient at the Royal University Hospital (RUH).
A physical altercation occurred between the protective service officers and the patient. During this altercation, the patient became unresponsive.
According to the SHA, “Medical staff responded to provide patient care and pronounced the patient deceased.”
