City of Ottawa Implements Daytime Parking Ban

The City of Ottawa has announced a daytime parking ban for Sunday due to unpredictable weather.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, parking will not be allowed on city streets from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city may extend these hours as needed for winter street maintenance.

According to the city, “Winter street parking restrictions in Ottawa are designed to allow snow removal crews to clear the streets easily and efficiently.” Vehicles parked on streets during a restriction may be towed, and owners may face fines.

Designated winter parking spots will be available at several park and ride lots, including Riverview, Innovation, Chapel Hill, Nepean Woods, Greenboro, Leitrim, and Eagleson. Some parking will also be available at select community centres and arenas.

To support local businesses, drivers can still park on certain commercial roads, including parts of Bank Street, Elgin Street, and Wellington Street.
