A snowfall warning is issued for Toronto, predicting up to 10 cm of snow, which may affect the morning commute after the holiday break.
A snowfall warning is in effect for Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This could be “problematic” for the morning commute as many people return to work after the holiday break.
Environment Canada predicts up to 10 cm of snow on Monday. The snowfall is expected to start in the early morning and continue into the afternoon.
“Although modest snowfall amounts are expected, the timing of this snow will be problematic,” the national weather agency explains. “Because the holiday season is now behind us, and traffic patterns should be closer to normal, this snow is expected to have more of an impact on the Monday morning commute.”
Travel may be challenging due to reduced visibility at times. Roads and walkways could become difficult to navigate because of the accumulating snow.
The warning covers a large area of southern Ontario, from Burlington in the west to Oshawa in the east. Hamilton and areas east of Oshawa to Kingston are under a special weather statement, predicting between 5 and 10 cm of snowfall during the same period.
| Date | Location | Expected Snowfall |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Toronto | Up to 10 cm |
| Monday | Burlington to Oshawa | Up to 10 cm |
| Monday | Hamilton to Kingston | 5 to 10 cm |
