Man in Critical Condition After Collision with Snowplow in Saint-Rémi
A man is in critical condition after a collision with a snowplow tractor in Saint-Rémi, Montérégie.
Emergency services responded to the scene around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning on Church Street.
Initial reports indicate that the driver of a pickup truck struck the tractor, which had just cleared snow from a private driveway.
“According to preliminary information, the driver of the pickup truck collided with the snowplow tractor, which was leaving a private residence entrance,” said Sergeant Marythé Bolduc, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The driver of the snowplow was not injured. However, the driver of the pickup truck, who was alone, suffered serious injuries.
“The man in his 30s was transported to a regional hospital for injuries which, unfortunately, are life-threatening,” added Sergeant Bolduc.
Church Street was closed until 6:30 a.m. on Sunday to allow a collision investigator from the Sûreté du Québec to conduct an investigation into the causes and circumstances of the event.
Road conditions were poor at the time of the accident, with snow and blowing snow in southern Quebec overnight. No hypotheses have been ruled out to explain the incident.
