Montreal’s Charles-De Gaulle Bridge on Highway 40 will have lane closures from Jan. 9 to 12 for repair work, with reduced speed limits and possible congestion
Lane Closures on Highway 40 for Repairs
The new year often brings changes, but Montreal roads will not see any. Transport Quebec announced lane closures on Highway 40 at the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge this weekend.
From 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, to 4 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, one of three lanes on Highway 40 will be closed. This section is between Gouin Boulevard East in Montreal and Route 344 (Saint-Charles Road).
Some lanes may also be narrower than usual. The speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h in both directions during this time.
The closure is necessary for repair work on the bridge. Transport Quebec stated that the construction site may have police surveillance, and a speed camera will be installed for worker safety.
Traffic congestion is expected. Drivers should check Québec 511 to plan their trips. Road work may also be postponed due to bad weather.
