Drivers Reminded to Follow Road Signs at Lake Louise

Drivers are reminded to obey road signs and avoid pedestrian paths after two vehicles got stuck in snow at Lake Louise over the weekend.

Banff National Park reported that park wardens and RCMP officers responded to the area after two vehicles became stranded on the pedestrian-only lakeshore promenade.

Both vehicles had entered the snow-covered pathway meant for foot traffic.

They became stuck in deep snow, leading to recovery efforts. In one case, specialized equipment was required to remove the car.

RCMP issued an $81 violation ticket to one driver for illegal parking on a sidewalk. The second driver received a warning.

Park officials noted that towing and recovery costs, along with fines, were significant.

“Vehicles in unauthorized areas can interfere with snow removal, restrict emergency access, and create safety hazards for pedestrians,” stated Banff National Park.

Park officials urge visitors to follow all signage and stay within designated parking and driving areas.
