A Saskatoon father of a newborn won $1 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw after buying a ticket while shopping for baby formula at a local pharmacy
Canadian Man Wins $1 Million Lottery Prize
A Canadian man is getting a break after winning the lottery. Reden Ramos, a resident of Saskatoon, Sask., bought a Lotto 6/49 ticket while at London Drugs.
Ramos was at the pharmacy to buy formula for his newborn baby when he decided to make the extra purchase. He did not check his ticket right after the draw.
“I didn’t know I was a winner right away,” Ramos said with a laugh. “I have three jobs and a baby, so I stay busy!”
One day around 8 a.m., he scanned his ticket using the Lotto Spot app. “I thought, ‘Is it true?’” he recalled.
It was true. Ramos won a $1 million White Ball prize during the Lotto 6/49 draw on December 10.
“I must have scanned it at least 10 times!” he said. “It was hard to relax thinking about the win — I told my wife, and she started to cry.”
Ramos said the win came at a perfect time for their growing family. “We feel truly blessed to be able to take care of our baby,” he said.
He plans to open a bank account for his baby boy and is considering properties. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing!” he added.
According to Ramos, the $1 million windfall marks a new chapter for the family. “It’s so unexpected, and we’re so grateful,” he said with a smile.
Ramos purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from London Drugs at 134 Primrose Dr. in Saskatoon.
