Investigation Underway for Alleged Arson at Brampton Auto Repair Shop
Peel police are investigating an alleged arson at a Brampton auto repair shop. Two tow trucks and nearby vehicles were found on fire Tuesday morning.
Fire crews responded to reports of multiple vehicles on fire at a business near Rutherford Road S. and Orenda Road around 3:15 a.m., according to Const. Amanda Steenson.
Suspects and Surveillance Footage
Police are searching for two suspects seen pouring gasoline on the tow trucks. One suspect was wearing a white shirt and grey pants.
Surveillance video obtained by CBC News shows a person walking around the tow trucks and another vehicle. The video captures them appearing to douse one of the trucks with an unknown liquid before it ignites, spreading flames to surrounding vehicles.
Injuries and Public Safety
No injuries were reported from the fire. Steenson stated there is no reason to believe there is a threat to public safety. Police are still working to determine a motive for the incident.
Possible Link to Previous Arson
The property is near the site of another alleged arson from last week. Several tow trucks were set on fire in the area of Rutherford and Glidden roads. Police reported multiple people setting trucks on fire before fleeing.
Police are investigating a possible link between the two alleged arsons.
