About Us

Our Mission Welcome to Holy Roller, an independent digital newsroom dedicated to serving Canada and the surrounding communities. Founded in 2026, we are 100% Canadian-owned and operated. Our mission is to provide accurate, timely, and fair reporting on the issues that impact the safety and well-being of our neighbourhoods.

We believe that local journalism is the backbone of a healthy democracy. Whether we are covering City Council, provincial court proceedings, or community alerts, our goal is to keep our readers informed with facts they can trust.

Our Editorial Standards Holy Roller is committed to the highest ethical standards of journalism. We align our practices with the principles of the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) and the National NewsMedia Council.

  • Accuracy & Verification: We do not publish rumours. All crime and public safety news is verified through official channels, including the Local Police Service, Court of Justice, and direct on-the-scene reporting.
  • Presumption of Innocence: In our crime reporting, we strictly adhere to the legal principle that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We are careful to use precise language (“charged,” “alleged”) to avoid prejudicing legal proceedings.
  • Protection of Minors: In compliance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), we never publish the names or identifying details of minors accused or convicted of crimes.
  • Victim Privacy: We treat victims of crime with dignity and respect, refraining from publishing gratuitous details or images that could cause undue distress.

Corrections Policy We are accountable to our readers. If you spot a factual error, we want to know. It is our policy to correct errors of fact rapidly and transparently, noting the correction at the bottom of the article.

Meet the Team We are your neighbours.
