A six-year-old girl has died, and her infant sister is in critical condition after a multi-vehicle crash on Monday night in Laval, north of Montreal.
Laval police Lt. Geneviève Major stated that the six-year-old was pronounced dead today in the hospital. Her five-month-old sister remains in critical condition.
The crash involved four vehicles and sent nine people to the hospital, including the young victims’ parents.
The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Monday on Route 335, near Dagenais Boulevard. A northbound vehicle lost control and struck three others in both the north and south lanes.
Major mentioned that investigators spoke with a 40-year-old man involved in the crash. He is considered an important witness in the case.
The man was released under a promise to appear at a later date as the Crown requested additional information.
Major added that the incident is still under investigation and may take months to complete.
